En particular la vestimenta del Kohen Gadol, la cual llevar\u00eda por primera vez Ahar\u00f3n, el hermano de Mosh\u00e9, era de espectacular belleza, una obra de arte primorosa.<\/p>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de esta Parash\u00e1 se dedica a describir con gran detalle c\u00f3mo deb\u00edan ser las vestimentas, no obstante, unos pocos vers\u00edculos introducen esta porci\u00f3n de la Tor\u00e1, mencionando la mitzv\u00e1 del Ner Tamid; la obligaci\u00f3n que ten\u00edan los kohanim de encender la luz de la Menor\u00e1 de siete brazos y velar porque siempre dispusiera de la cantidad de aceite de oliva para que nunca se apague. Dr. Yaakov Rodriguez<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"25\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"25\">Dressing with Purpose<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"27\" data-end=\"333\">In this week\u2019s parashah, the Torah gives a meticulous description of the priestly garments for the <em data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"139\">Kohen Gadol<\/em> and the regular <em data-start=\"156\" data-end=\"165\">Kohanim<\/em>. In particular, the vestments of the <em data-start=\"203\" data-end=\"216\">Kohen Gadol<\/em>\u2014which Aaron, the brother of Moses, would wear for the first time\u2014were of breathtaking beauty, a refined work of art.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"335\" data-end=\"789\">Most of this parashah is devoted to describing in great detail how these garments were to be made. However, a few verses introduce this section of the Torah by mentioning the mitzvah of the <em data-start=\"525\" data-end=\"536\">Ner Tamid<\/em>: the obligation of the <em data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"569\">Kohanim<\/em> to light the seven-branched Menorah and to ensure that it always had a sufficient supply of olive oil so that it would never be extinguished. This was one of the most important daily duties carried out by the <em data-start=\"779\" data-end=\"788\">Kohanim<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"1243\">It should catch our attention that this mitzvah is commanded precisely before the Torah goes on to describe the garments worn by those entrusted with this significant task. It reminds us that mission and purpose are what truly matter, not investiture or external appearance. The very reason for the existence of the <em data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1116\">Kohanim<\/em> was to keep the light of the Torah burning in the hearts of the people; their garments were merely a reminder of that mission.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1862\">In a world dominated by appearances and superficiality, it is very common to focus on the external\u2014to place the greatest importance on what one wears, an academic title, the brand of a car, the size of a house, or the level of one\u2019s job. Yet none of this has value if we do not fulfill our purpose of being a light. If we fail to provide oil, the light goes out, and we will be wearing beautiful garments in the dark. The oil is the study of Torah, represented by cultivating our spirituality through learning and devotion, introspection and meditation; the light represents our actions\u2014those that are visible to all.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"1984\">As the popular saying goes, \u201ct<span class=\"T286Pc\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-complete=\"true\">he cowl does not make the monk<\/span>,\u201d or in Jewish terms: \u201cthe ephod does not make the Kohen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1986\" data-end=\"2044\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Shabbat Shalom uMevorach<\/strong><br data-start=\"2010\" data-end=\"2013\" \/>Rabbi Sem.
