Nuestras vidas ser\u00edan mucho m\u00e1s sencillas si solamente bendiciones estuvieran delante nuestro.<\/p>\n<p>En un plano humano, una madre dice a su hijo que ya entiende: \u201cprohibido jugar con el cuchillo!, pero el hijo siempre tendr\u00e1 la elecci\u00f3n de obedecer o no; si desobedece y se corta, ser\u00e1 su completa responsabilidad. Lo mismo sucede con nosotros, D\u2019os ha puesto las opciones ante nosotros pero nos ordena escoger la vida, porque nos conviene y porque es lo mejor para nosotros. Queriendo darnos absoluta libertad de elecci\u00f3n nos ha puesto delante tambi\u00e9n todo aquello que nos puede da\u00f1ar.<\/p>\n<p>La naturaleza humana exige y a\u00f1ora por la libertad, a\u00fan si todas sus necesidades est\u00e1n saciadas y se vive en un palacio, si no hay opci\u00f3n de salir de all\u00ed se termina convirtiendo en una c\u00e1rcel. D\u2019os no quiso encarcelarnos y por eso nos dio la opci\u00f3n de abandonar el palacio si as\u00ed queremos; no sin antes advertirnos de las consecuencias de esto.<\/p>\n<p>Muchas veces hemos decidido salir del palacio y explorar afuera en busca de aventuras, pero al final solamente encontramos la carencia de todas aquellas bendiciones que no pueden ser halladas fuera.<\/p>\n<p>Estamos a pocos d\u00edas de iniciar el camino del retorno, de la Teshuv\u00e1, a un poco m\u00e1s de un mes del nuevo a\u00f1o y los d\u00edas del juicio, el mes de Elul es una oportunidad para reconectarnos con D\u2019os y Su Tor\u00e1, de volver al palacio del Rey nuestro Padre. El Shofar empezar\u00e1 a sonar en las sinagogas, durante las madrugadas se empezar\u00e1n a escuchar las melod\u00edas de las Selijot, y nuestra Nesham\u00e1 sentir\u00e1 intuitivamente la necesidad de reconectar y acercarse a la Fuente de Vida, dejar atr\u00e1s la maldici\u00f3n y elegir nuevamente la bendici\u00f3n. De nuestras fuentes: \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 tienes ser humano que dormitas? Lev\u00e1ntate y eleva s\u00faplicas, antes que lleguen los d\u00edas temibles\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shabat Shalom y J\u00f3desh Tov!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Rab. Sem. Dr. Yaakov Rodriguez<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Our Parashah begins by saying:<br \/>\n&#8220;See, I have set before you today a blessing and a curse&#8230;&#8221; and it continues to explain that we will receive blessing if we choose to follow the path of the Torah.<\/p>\n<p>Why did Hashem place the curse before us as well? Wouldn\u2019t our lives be much simpler if only blessings were placed before us?<\/p>\n<p>On a human level, a mother tells her child\u2014who already understands\u2014\u201cYou\u2019re not allowed to play with the knife!\u201d Yet the child always has the choice to obey or not. If he disobeys and gets cut, it will be entirely his responsibility. The same applies to us: G-d has placed the options before us, but He commands us to choose life\u2014because it is in our best interest and because it is what\u2019s best for us. Wanting to grant us absolute free will, He also placed before us all that could harm us.<\/p>\n<p>Human nature longs for freedom\u2014even if all one\u2019s needs are met and one lives in a palace. If there is no option to leave, it eventually becomes a prison. G-d did not want to imprison us, and so He gave us the option to leave the palace if we so choose\u2014not without first warning us of the consequences.\u00a0Many times, we have chosen to leave the palace and explore the outside world in search of adventure, only to find a lack of all those blessings that cannot be found beyond its walls.<\/p>\n<p>We are just a few days away from beginning the path of return, of Teshuvah, a little over a month from the new year and the Days of Judgment. The month of Elul is an opportunity to reconnect with G-d and His Torah, to return to the palace of the King\u2014our Father.\u00a0The Shofar will soon begin to sound in the synagogues; in the early mornings, the melodies of Selichot will be heard, and our Neshamah will intuitively feel the need to reconnect and draw near to the Source of Life\u2014to leave the curse behind and once again choose the blessing.<\/p>\n<p>From our sources:<br \/>\n\u201cWhat are you doing, human being, as you slumber?
