A diferencia de la acepci\u00f3n popular sobre interpretar la impureza como suciedad o contaminaci\u00f3n, en el juda\u00edsmo, la Tum\u00e1 es un concepto completamente distinto. En Tazr\u00eda se nos enumeran causas de impureza todas relacionadas al potencial de generar vida, de aqu\u00ed entendemos que el concepto de Tum\u00e1 est\u00e1 relacionado directamente con el vac\u00edo que queda despu\u00e9s de que una posibilidad de vida se rompe o interrumpe, ese vac\u00edo genera una fuga de energ\u00eda espiritual, y la Tor\u00e1 se\u00f1ala la necesidad de restaurar este estado a trav\u00e9s de un ritual de reconexi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>No obstante, en Metzor\u00e1 se nos habla de un tipo de impureza muy distinto, nos referimos a la enfermedad Tzaraat, una condici\u00f3n dermatol\u00f3gica similar a la lepra que aquejaba a las personas en un estado de degradaci\u00f3n espiritual. In <em data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"312\">Tazria<\/em>, the causes of impurity that are listed are all related to the potential to generate life. From this we understand that <em data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"440\">tumah<\/em> is directly connected to the void that remains after a potential for life is broken or interrupted. That void creates a leakage of spiritual energy, and the Torah indicates the need to restore this state through a ritual of reconnection.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"1089\">However, in <em data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"701\">Metzora<\/em> we encounter a very different type of impurity, referring to the condition of <em data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"789\">tzaraat<\/em>, a dermatological affliction similar to leprosy that affected individuals in a state of spiritual degradation. Our sages explain that this condition manifested in those who had committed the serious sin of speaking <em data-start=\"1005\" data-end=\"1018\">lashon hara<\/em> (evil speech), a transgression done in private but revealed in public.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1523\">When we speak negatively about others\u2014through gossip, slander, judgment, or even excessive flattery\u2014we often do not immediately perceive the harm being caused. We may even think it is harmless or insignificant. Only when the damage becomes deep do we begin to see its external manifestations. The problem with <em data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1414\">lashon hara<\/em> is that it gradually destroys the social fabric and can ultimately devastate entire communities and peoples.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1525\" data-end=\"2279\">No less serious is the effect on the individual who habitually speaks ill of others. Returning to the definition of impurity as a void, this is the only form of impurity not associated with a bodily emission related to reproduction. It is worth asking: if nothing left the body, where does the void remain? <em data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"1845\">Lashon hara<\/em> creates a profound void within the person and simultaneously reveals their disconnection from the concept of the Divine. The impure words that come from our mouths also destroy the potential for life. One who speaks negatively about others and does not consider the harm caused fails to understand the essence of <em data-start=\"2159\" data-end=\"2173\">Shema Israel<\/em>. Their disconnection is so deep that they cannot recognize the presence of God in the people around them.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2281\" data-end=\"2581\">Each instance of <em data-start=\"2298\" data-end=\"2311\">lashon hara<\/em> distances us from our potential to be a light. It gradually turns us into empty individuals; one who becomes accustomed to this behavior ultimately loses the ability to perceive God in any aspect of life, becomes isolated from the community, and turns into a <em data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2580\">metzora<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2583\" data-end=\"3092\">The Torah also provides, for this condition, a path to redemption and reintegration into the community, freeing the person from impurity and public shame. Confession and acknowledgment of wrongdoing are essential parts of the purification process. When we become aware of the immense harm caused by speaking ill of others, we will be extremely careful\u2014even with seemingly innocent words about anyone.
