        "rendered": "<pre>English translation found below<\/pre>\n<p>Cada a\u00f1o que llega la conmemoraci\u00f3n internacional por las v\u00edctimas de la Sho\u00e1, y nuestras redes sociales se llenan con posts y hashtags de \u201cNo olvidar\u201d, #weremember, etc\u00e9tera, siempre hay alguien que comenta o me pregunta directamente, porqu\u00e9 los jud\u00edos nos obsesionamos con el tema; muchas otras naciones tambi\u00e9n sufrieron cat\u00e1strofes y no las vemos recordando con el mismo nivel de intensidad. En eso tienen raz\u00f3n.<br \/>\nDesde fuera muchos nos dicen que es hora de olvidar y seguir adelante. \u00bfSer\u00e1 acaso que recordar constantemente nos mantiene congelados en el pasado?<\/p>\n<p>En la Parash\u00e1 de esta semana leemos sobre la plaga de tinieblas, como durante tres d\u00edas los egipcios permanecieron en la oscuridad absoluta, petrificados sin poder moverse de su lugar. En hebreo la palabra para tinieblas es \u201cJoshej\u201d \u05d7\u05e9\u05da, y precisamente est\u00e1 conformada por las mismas letras y tiene el mismo valor num\u00e9rico que la palabra \u201cShajaj\u201d \u05e9\u05db\u05d7 que es la ra\u00edz del verbo \u201colvidar\u201d. As\u00ed, tinieblas y olvidar son b\u00e1sicamente palabras equivalentes.<\/p>\n<p>Al mismo tiempo en esta Parash\u00e1, se nos ordenan una lista de Mitzvot relacionadas con \u201cRecordar la Salida de Egipto\u201d: el calendario, la Matz\u00e1 y el Maror, el Korb\u00e1n P\u00e9saj, contarle a los hijos, los Tefil\u00edn, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Contrario a lo que pensar\u00edamos, cuando olvidamos qui\u00e9nes somos y de d\u00f3nde venimos, estamos condenados a vivir inm\u00f3viles en la oscuridad, sin saber a d\u00f3nde ir ni cu\u00e1l es nuestro prop\u00f3sito. Desde los albores de nuestra historia a los jud\u00edos Hashem nos ense\u00f1\u00f3 que la \u00fanica forma de avanzar con prop\u00f3sito es siempre recordando de d\u00f3nde salimos. Por eso recordar y conmemorar est\u00e1 en nuestra gen\u00e9tica espiritual, y acaso \u00bfno hemos avanzado as\u00ed? Basta ver el aporte jud\u00edo a la humanidad, basta con volver la mirada hacia el Estado de Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces s\u00ed, #weremember #recordamos, para no quedarnos paralizados en las tinieblas, para avanzar en luz.<\/p>\n<p>Shabat Shalom umevoraj!<br \/>\nRab. Dr. Yaakov Rodriguez<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"30\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"30\">The Darkness of Forgetting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"32\" data-end=\"464\">Each year, when the international commemoration for the victims of the Shoah arrives and our social networks are filled with posts and hashtags like \u201cNever Forget,\u201d #weremember, and the like, there is always someone who comments or asks me directly why Jews are so obsessed with the subject. Many other nations also suffered catastrophes, and we do not see them remembering with the same level of intensity. In that, they are right.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"466\" data-end=\"604\">From the outside, many tell us that it is time to forget and move on. Could it be that constantly remembering keeps us frozen in the past?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"1041\">In this week\u2019s Parashah, we read about the plague of darkness\u2014how for three days the Egyptians remained in absolute darkness, petrified and unable to move from their place. In Hebrew, the word for darkness is <em data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"825\">choshech<\/em> (\u05d7\u05e9\u05da), and it is formed from the same letters and has the same numerical value as the word <em data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"927\">shachach<\/em> (\u05e9\u05db\u05d7), which is the root of the verb \u201cto forget.\u201d Thus, darkness and forgetting are essentially equivalent terms.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1271\">At the same time, in this Parashah we are commanded with a list of mitzvot related to \u201cremembering the Exodus from Egypt\u201d: the calendar, matzah and maror, the Korban Pesach, telling the story to our children, tefillin, and more.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1851\">Contrary to what we might think, when we forget who we are and where we come from, we are condemned to live motionless in darkness, without knowing where to go or what our purpose is. From the very dawn of our history, Hashem taught the Jewish people that the only way to move forward with purpose is by always remembering where we came from. That is why remembering and commemorating are embedded in our spiritual DNA\u2014and haven\u2019t we advanced precisely in this way?
